Salomón Cuevas was born on October 22, 1931 in La Rioja, Argentina.  Cuevas grew up in La Rioja and worked in the sugar fields, when he heard of the work opportunities that existed in Patagonia.  In 1954, Cuevas moved to Comodoro Rivadavia in search of work.  He worked in Astra for 36 years in the dispatch office.  Through his time working in Astra, Cuevas was witness to many strikes, all of which he supported.  In addition, he was able to give testimony of the military intervention that occurred at a given point, where people were imprisoned and killed.  Currently, Cuevas has retired but continues to live in Astra.
