Society of Friends. Slavery and the Domestic Slave Trade. Philadelphia: Merrihew and Thompson, 1841.
The abolitionist pamphlet examines why there is a justification of slavery in the U.S. by looking at past examples of the ancient world, especially referencing the Bible. The pamphlet then explains the differences in ancient slavery versus the American slavery of the present. The author then lists the components of American slavery which resembles little of the ancient systems thus illustrating the horrific institution of the present day. The pamphlet cites specific stories about the institution in the United States and also condemns it.
