(1832-1883)

Robert Clemens Smedley was born on April 5, 1832 in Willistown Township, Chester County, Pennsylvania. Smedley was the father of three children and is best known for his history of the Underground Railroad in southeastern Pennsylvania. He died on January 2, 1883, in West Chester, Pennsylvania.
